Transformational leadership goes beyond being just a fashionable term in the business sphere. It embodies a proactive and empowering approach to leadership, known to enhance team involvement, productivity, and overall positivity (Bass & Riggio, 2006). For those who lead, these insights could light the path towards uncharted territories of achievement and fulfilment.
Leaders who employ transformational leadership are renowned for their capacity to motivate their teams towards a shared vision. This is not about coercing your team to tread towards your individual goal but crafting a collective aspiration, involving your team in the journey, and empowering them to strive towards the mission. When leaders can successfully nurture this shared vision, research has indicated a direct positive influence on team spirit and all-around performance (Breevaart et al., 2014).
Consider the case of Herb Kelleher, the engaging former CEO of Southwest Airlines.
